ABOUT

Hello!  Welcome welcome!

My name is Chania (like Twain), and my friends call me Chai (like tea)! I grew up as a theatre kid in the DMV area. If you ask my family, I’ve been acting since day one, from putting on shows in our living room to reenacting high school musical at theatre camp. I have always had a passion for storytelling and connecting with people through theatre.

I started my college path at Howard Community College where I was introduced to stage combat! By the time I transferred, I became certified in Single Sword, Unarmed, and Broadsword with the Society of American Fight Directors. I also had the opportunity to delve into dialect work, and eventually began teaching dialects for the Howard County Theatre Festival.

After 3 years at HCC, I transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I graduated with a BFA in Acting in 2021. Through the BFA program, I learned about theatrical intimacy and discovered I had another subject to add to my list of passions! Now, Theatrical Intimacy Education's Best Practices are embedded in just about all of my creative processes.

When I’m not working as an actor, I’m a freelance teaching artist in Baltimore. Being able to coach and teach has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. I’m grateful to have had opportunities to teach at Baltimore School for the Arts, Baltimore Center Stage, and the University of Mayland, Baltimore County.

When I’m not working, I enjoy book shopping (occasionally book reading), curating playlists, being an audience member, making horror films with my friends, and writing poetry.

Thanks for stopping by! :)
